Addie Castleberry

Mrs. Addie Mae Powell Castleberry, 92 of Sylvester, died on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Pruitt Health Care Sylvester.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Providence Cemetery. The Rev. John Powell officiated.  

Mrs. Castleberry was born on December 11, 1926 in Doles, Ga., to the late Ad Greene and Mamie Farmer Powell. She had lived in Worth County all of her life and was retired from Sylvester Textile as a seamstress. Mrs. Castleberry enjoyed gardening, and fishing, but most importantly spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the Red Oak Baptist Church.  

Survivors include her children, Lorrie Dennington of Statesboro, Ga., Jessie Castleberry (Linda) of Poulan, Jim Castleberry (Evelyn) of Isabella, Debra Eason (Lon) of Acworth, Ga., and Mary Brown (Tim) of Sylvester; brother, Rufus Powell; sister, Hazel Davis, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Castleberry was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Castleberry on October 3, 2018 and her brothers, Leroy Powell and W. G. Powell
