Alton R. Baggett

Mr. Alton R. Baggett, 78, of Sylvester died Thursday March 17, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 19, 2016 at Banks Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Baggett Family Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Ron Stinson officiated.

Mr. Baggett was born in Cairo on April 6, 1937 to the late Early Dean and Pearl Owns Baggett. He had lived in Worth County since 1975 moving here from Albany. Mr. Baggett retired from the City of Albany as the Director of the Light Department. He enjoyed his cows, horses and especially his grandchildren. Mr. Baggett was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a founding member of Bryant Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Charolette Stewart Baggett of Sylvester, children, Brian Baggett (Lisa) and Janie Baggett all of Sylvester, grandchildren, Scott Ferguson (Gina), Amy Ferguson, Eric Ferguson, Brianne Heape (Justin), Bethany McVay (Mike), Brian Ray Bagggett, Brandon Nutt (Victoria), Kellie Nutt; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Delores Smith of Cairo, Betty Suber of Tallahasse, FL, Diane Salisbury of Winter Park, FL; brother, Earl Baggett of Monticello, FL.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Baggett was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet B. Bryant on July 16, 2006.

Pallbearers included Eric Ferguson, Brandon Nutt, Justin Heape, Scott Ferguson, Brian Ray Baggett and Jack Nutt.
