Bennie M. Powell

Mr. Bennie M. Powell, 98, of Sylvester died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his residence. The funeral service was held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Providence Cemetery with Masonic Rites.  Rev. Jason Jones officiated.

Mr. Powell was born on March 26, 1920 in Worth County to the late Marion M. and Roxie Ann Gay Powell.  He had lived in Worth County most of his life.  Mr. Powell farmed for several years before working for the Worth County Correctional Department for 35 years.  He was a member of the Worth F & AM Lodge #194 for 75 years.  Mr. Powell was devoted to his family whom he loved dearly.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.  Mr. Powell was a faithful member of Isabella Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Webb Suggs Powell of Sylvester; sons, Gene Powell (Linda) and Ronnie Powell (Cindy), all of Worth County; daughters, Annette P. Graham and Kathryn P. Marchman (Tommy), all of Worth County; step-son, Troy Oliver Suggs (Dorothy) of Enigma; step-daughter, Ann McGhee (Buster) of Brookfield; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his first wife, Janie Lula Lindsey Powell and sons, Cecil Powell, James Wayne Powell, and Glen Powell. Pallbearers included Mike Roberts, Jerry Jones, Reggie Cox, Gordon Cox, Ray McDonald and Beryl White.
