Bettye Chapman Whitten

Mrs. Bettye Chapman Whitten, 74, of Sumner died Tuesday December 17, 2013 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Fl.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday December 21, 2013 at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment following in the Sumner Cemetery. The Rev. Wallace Willis officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Tim Sikes, Jeffrey Young, Paul Harris, Ronnie Chapman, David Alderman and Adam Whitten.
Mrs. Whitten was born on December 10, 1939 in Sumner, to the late William Henry and Mary Grace Lipsey Chapman.  She lived in Worth County all her life and was a retired registered nurse from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Whitten graduated from Albany Junior College with a BS in nursing. She was a member of the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Workman and her husband Johnny of Gulf Breeze, FL; son, Kebo Whitten and his wife Michelle of Atlanta; sister, Linda Sikes Vineyard (Albert) of Leesburg; grandchildren, Tammy Wiley, Alex and Mallory Whitten; step-grandchildren, Johnny Workman, Jr., Patty McGill and a great-grandchild, Christian Beck.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Whitten on March 28, 1987.
