Mr. Brad Hatfield, Sr., 73, formerly of Sylvester, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his daughter’s residence in Dacula, Georgia. The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Ron Stinson officiated.
Mr. Hatfield was born on December 5, 1944 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Henry Reed and Caroline Lewis Hatfield, Sr. He had lived in the Southwest Georgia area for most of his life. Mr. Hatfield was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve others, retiring after 41 years of service, while working as a Paramedic with Grady Emergency Medical Services and assisting Worth County Emergency Services as a Certified Rescue Diver. Mr. Hatfield’s main hobbies were helping others, scuba diving, and photography. He had many joys in life, but his greatest joy was his family whom he loved dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Benita Meadows of Douglas; daughters, Chanta Howard (Jim) of Atlanta and Aperil Sellers of Dacula; son, Brad Hatfield, Jr. (Ashley) of Leesburg; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Reed Hatfield (Glenna) of Leesburg and Thorpe Hatfield (Pat) of Atlanta; along with a number of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatfield was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myra Hatfield on September 29, 2015. Pallbearers, both Active and Honorary, consisted of Mr. Hatfield’s fellow Emergency Services friends and colleagues.
