Charles H. Lunsford, Jr., 81, of Sumner died Friday January 17, 2014 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Clements Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Ray Bittner officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were John Walker, David Lunsford, Jason Lunsford, Ben Lunsford, Jimmy Bryan and Randal Rogers.
Mr. Lunsford was born on September 3, 1932 to Maggie Dora Shepherd and Charles Hadden Lunsford, Sr. in Doles. He lived in Worth County all of his life. He was a retired farmer and received the Senior Farmer of the Year Award. Mr. Lunsford enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He was a member of Clements Chapel and served on the board of trustees.
Survivors include sons, Donald Lunsford (Pat) of Sumner and Alan Lunsford (Karen) of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, David Lunsford (Lacey), Jason and Ben Lunsford; great-grandchild, Ella Lunsford; sisters, Betty Holland (Bill) of Sylvester and Jackie Reynolds of Americus.
Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie C. Lunsford on November 19, 2007 and a son, Mike Lunsford on December 22, 1974.
