Darleen Walsh-Tate

Darleen Walsh-Tate, 70, of Worth County, GA, died February 11, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. Herbert Waid and Rev. Sam Tate will officiate.  Interment will follow in Mt. Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Albany, GA, Darleen grew up in Worth County, GA and graduated from Worth County High School.  She met the late Rick Walsh while he was stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, they married and moved Saugus, MA where they lived until 1978 returning to Albany, GA.  Darleen attended the Albany School of Beauty and was a self-employed Beautician until her retirement.  She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Community Country Quilters.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Walsh, her father, William Chesley. Cromer, and two grandsons, Jackson O’Quinn and Ryan Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Tate of Worth Co., GA, her daughters and their husbands, Kacey and Buddy Snipes of Baconton, GA, Kelly and Jim Smith and Kimberly and Brad Bowen all of Lee Co., GA, her mother, Bernice Cromer of Worth Co., GA, her siblings and their spouses, Erlene and Donnie Littleton, Elaine and Ronnie Jenkins, Deborah and Bill Arnold and David and Patti Cromer all of Worth Co., GA and Bill and Lynn Cromer of Fernandina Beach, FL, her grandchildren, Jake O’Quinn of Baconton, GA, Daylon Bowen, Kim Smith and Lisa Smith all of Lee County, GA, her great-grandchildren, Lindsey Richardson, Sydney Richardson and Haley Richards.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.

The family is at the residence of Kacey and Buddy Snipes, 9654 Stage Rd., Baconton, GA, 31716.
