Donald L. Dorminey

Donald L. Dorminey Sr. of Shingler, Ga. died April 15, 2014 of complications from heart disease.
The memorial service will be held Saturday April 19 at 2 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Sylvester. Rev. Troy West will officiate.
The family will received friend one hour prior to the service at Northside Baptist Church.
A native of Ashburn, Ga., Mr. Dorminey was born May 28, 1935. Mr. Dorminey graduated from Ashburn High School in 1953. He won the state championship in pole vaulting in 1953 and was also on the basketball team. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Dorminey loved making people laugh, he was always telling jokes. He really enjoyed his daily breakfast at Ed’s, sitting around talking with all the other regulars.
He is survived by his three daughters: Donna Dorminey Wood, Cyndi  Dorminey Currie and Mary Dorminey  Walraven; two sons: Donald L. Dorminey Jr. and David L. Dorminey; grandchildren:  Hollie Suarez, Scott Tinker, Justin Dorminey, Brian Wood, Ken Agosto, Whitney Wood, Kristen Currie, Blake Dorminey,  Brooke Walraven Denney,  Jarred Dorminey, Courtney Currie and  Lauren Dorminey; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jessie and Hunter Knight, Hannah Dorminey,  Alexis, Kobe and JoJo Wood, Landin Wood, Kase Dorminey, Carter, Skylar and Raylyn Dorminey.
