Donald S. Whitaker

Donald S. Whitaker, 73, of Albany, GA made his departure to heaven Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from his residence.  Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Reverends Allen Bingham and Tom Sparks officiated. Interment followed at Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, GA with Rev. Myron Brookins officiating.
A native of Colquitt, GA, Mr. Whitaker resided in Albany since 1961. He was a 1959 Miller County High School graduate and served in the Georgia National Guard.  Mr. Whitaker was a Pharmaceutical Representative with McKesson Drug Company and retired in 2002. He enjoyed his work and the people he served. His life centered around his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved his home and simple country living. Most importantly, Mr. Whitaker was a man of great faith. Through faith in Jesus, he has received eternity in heaven. Mr. Whitaker attended First Presbyterian Church in Albany.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara K. Whitaker of Albany, GA; two daughters, Tara Morgan and her husband Daryl of Lee Co., GA and Angel Moore and her husband, Gregg of Lexington, SC; two sons, Don Whitaker and his wife, Teresa of Doerun, GA and Joshua Whitaker of Albany, GA; his grandchildren, Jesse Moore and Jacob Moore both of Lexington, SC, Tamara Young (Luis), Kirstie Martin (Kristian), Gracie Mann and Maggie Mann, all of Lee County, GA, Shelly Butler (Justin) of Eastman, GA, Keith Wood (Brandi), Tyler Wood all of TyTy, GA, Reid Whitaker of Doerun, GA; and his great-grandchildren, Dawson Butler,  Emma Grace Martin, Sam Martin, Callie Martin, Jordyn White, Brodie Wood, and Grayson Wood.
The family received friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
