The Sylvester-Worth County Education Committee met Monday January 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Chamber. The committee discussed and set the upcoming years agenda. The Chair of this years committee is our School Superintendent Kay Smith Mathews. Our Directors and Ambassadors that have committed to the Education Committee are Tony Bell, Jean Brooks, Gina Connell, Mike Davis, Heather Greene, Mandy Gordon, Wendy Kennedy, Sarah McCrary, Shelly McPhaul, Karen Rackley and Kyle Tomlinson. Chair Kay Smith Mathews asked Mike Davis to open with a prayer and pledge. The committee then discussed the upcoming agenda for the 2015 Education Committee. Everyone agreed our focus this year will be High School Retention and encouraging further education after Graduation. Topics of discussion were Partners in Education, Regional Educational Summit, CACG Chamber Mini Grant and implementation of the Grant, Updates on the School System and Educational Legislative Bills that will affect our local school system, supporting all the Career Days at each of our Schools, New Hire Orientation and Student of the Month at the Middle School. This year promises to be a busy and productive year for the Chamber’s Education Committee!!
The Sylvester – Worth County Chamber of Commerce Government Committee met on Monday January 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM. The committee discussed and set the upcoming years agenda. The Chair of this years committee is Chamber Director Becky Geer. Our Directors and Ambassadors that have committed to the Government Committee are Gina Connell, Mike Davis, Becky Geer, Kim Gilman, Heather Greene, Kay Smith Mathews, Shelly McPhaul, Bonnie Walker and Christy Haskins. The topics of discussion included A Heads of Worth Event, Middle School Government Tour, Voter Awareness Campaign and Legislative Issues that effect our local community. The Committee set a date for our Middle School Tour, agreed to continue with our Voter Awareness Campaign, updated the committee on our Leadership Worth Class of 2015, and agreed to have a presence at all our governmental meetings throughout the county. Look for great things to come from our Government Committee in 2015!
