Mr. Gaylord N. Bice, 84, of Sylvester died Tuesday April 22, 2014 at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 26, 2014 at Unity Baptist Church with Reverends Tim Bice and Matt Green officiating. A committal service was also held at 12:30 on Saturday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA, with Rev. Charlie Brown officiating.
Pallbearers included Oscar Kelly, Jeff Ford, Will Bice, Cal Parker, Vic Parker, and Eddie Windom.
Mr. Bice was born on April 23, 1929 in LaGrange to the late William Leslie and Era Rice Bice. He graduated in 1955 with a B.S. degree from The University of Georgia and received his Masters degree from Columbus State. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Bice lived in Sylvester since 2006 moving here from Pensacola, FL. He was a retired coach, educator, and administrator serving as principal of Worth County Middle School, and Assistant Principal of Worth County High School. He held the record long jump at Greenville High School and played basketball. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan and enjoyed gardening and music.
Mr. Bice was a member of Unity Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Davis Bice of Sylvester; children, Cindy Londini (Donnie) of Melbourne, FL, Sharon McDonald (Jack) of Pace, FL, Pam McGee (Marty) of Clarks Hill, SC, Tim Bice (Jaye) of Albany, Cal Parker (Alicia) of Reynolds, Doris McDonald (Glenn) of Shingler and Vic Parker of Brunswick; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
