Grady Lee Walker

Grady Lee Walker, 85, of Sumner, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Tifton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Interment followed in Wright’s Chapel Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Matt Norman, Taylor Willis, Chase Willis, Ray Salter, Chad Salter, Lane Salter, Ted Bozeman and Stacy Gunn.

Honorary casketbearers included Kermit Cole, Steve Powell, Duck Bozeman, Keith Sutton, Jerry Saunders and Mack Sutton.

Born August 7, 1927 in Sylvester, he was the son of the late John Y. Walker and Weston Watson Walker. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma June Ricks Salter Walker and three step-sons, Mark Salter, Larry Salter and Raymond Salter.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Walker and wife Donna of Norman Park; six grandchildren, Shannon Willis; Chad Salter and wife Kim, Kristie Norman and husband Shannon, Ray Salter and special friend Jeannie, Bryan Paulk and wife Leigh Ann and Katherine Walker; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Willis, Taylor Willis, Chase Willis, Lane Salter, Michael Norman, Matt Norman and Tatum Salter; daughter-in-law, Linda Salter Powell of Sylvester’ several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Cobb Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
