James Austin Brown

Funeral services for Mr.  James Austin Brown, age 81, of Chester, who died Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Serenity Hospice in Dublin, were held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Cole Morris and Rev. Daniel Cook officiating. Burial was in Brown Family Cemetery.

Mr. Brown, a lifelong resident of Dodge County, was the son of the late Charlie Elton and Ruthie Phillips Brown. He was a farmer, served in the Georgia National Guard and a member and deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors are his children, Phillip Brown of Chester and Nancy (Bobby) Mayer of Sylvester; grandchildren, Alex (Stephanie) Mayer of Savannah and Dylan Mayer of Sylvester.

Pallbearers were Bobby Mayer, Dylan Mayer, Terry Brown, Roger Brown, Wayne Dykes and Billy Ray Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Peacock, Ricky Giddens, Hosey Mullis, Ron Shepard, David Shepherd, Carl Hosford, James Hosford, David Farmer and Cletus Mullis.

Mathis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.mathisfh.net
