Jerry Dean “JD” Dorminey

VeteranMr. Jerry Dean “JD” Dorminey, 79, of Landrum, SC, and formerly of Doerun, GA, died Friday, March 06, 2015 at the Pardee Medical Center in Hendersonville, NC.
A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 9, 2015 in the Banks Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ron Little and Mr. David Norrell officiated.
Mr. Dorminey was born on September 20, 1935 to the late James Thomas and Lois Golden Dorminey. He attended Doerun High School, graduating in 1953, before serving in the US Army. Mr. Dorminey was a great dancer and friend to all who knew him. He was an avid racecar enthusiast and lifelong businessman in the petroleum industry. Mr. Dorminey was a happy man who loved his Cadillac and talking on his cell phone making business deals. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Mr. Dorminey was known for his kind and giving heart as well as his devotion and love for his Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Dean Dorminey Jr. (Dianne)of Senoia, GA and Justin Kyle Dorminey of Tallahassee; daughters, Genia Dorminey Sword (Neal) of Landrum and Dana Dorminey Powell (Paul) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Michael Dorminey, Melissa Dorminey Chambers, Candice Fraser, Madison Lee, Blake Lee, Taylor Lee, Luke Powell, Emily Powell, Neal Sword III, Sterling Sword, Theodore Sword and McKenzy Sword; great-grandchildren, Wesley Jones, Landen Miller, Jaycie Chambers and James Chambers; sisters, Melba Brown (Donald) of Bridgeboro, Vivian Horne (Donald) and Linda Hathcock (Jimmy), both of Moultrie.
