John S. Spence

Mr. John S. Spence, 72, of Sylvester died Friday June 14, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday June 17, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Jason Jones officiating. Pallbearers included Curtis Spence, Drew Spence, Andy Rouse, Todd Spence, Eric Clemens and W. J. Deal.
Mr. Spence was born on March 18, 1941 to the late William Thomas and Odell Fowler Spence in Worth County where he lived all his life. He was formerly employed with the Worth County Board of Education for 22 years. Mr. Spence was a member of Sylvester Church of Christ.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Michelle Longer of Marion, SC; brothers, Ed Spence (Linda) of Poulan, Troy Spence (Margaret) of Sylvester, Oliver Spence of Sylvester and Larry Spence (Marilyn) of Sylvester; sisters, Evelyn Clem of Kershaw, SC, Martha Slocumb (Don) of Woodstock, Ruth Youngblood (Gene) of Blountstown, AL and Olivia Rouse (Leonard) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, John Longer, William Byrd, Natalie Longer; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Mr. Spence was preceded in death by a brother, George Spence.
The family received friends on Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home
