Joseph Strawder Jr.

Joseph William Strawder Jr., 77, of Panama City, FL, passed away on May 31, 2019 in Sylvester, Ga at his son’s home. A memorial will be held at his son’s home at 308 Miles St., Sylvester, Ga. The memorial will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday June 16, 2019. Mr. Strawder’s body will be cremated in Tifton, Ga and his ashes will be returned to Panama City, FL.

Joseph William Strawder, Jr. was born in Albany, Ga. to Joseph W. Strawder Sr. and Mary Jewel Burns Strawder on June 8, 1941. He went to High School at Albany H.S. He graduated from Albany Junior College with an A.S. in Business. He worked as a civil service worker and traveling the world on ships in the MPS program for the US Marine Corps for 30 years. He was a veteran of The Berlin Crisis of 1961 and served in the US Army for 3 years. Joseph W. Strawder Jr. was preceded in death by his father Joseph William Strawder Sr., Mother Mary Jewel Burns, Sister Cheryl Hendrix and Brother David Strawder.

Joseph W. Strawder Jr. is survived by: son Kristopher J. Strawder Sr. and wife Deborah B. Strawder, daughter Tammy K. Driggers; five grandchildren: Kristopher Jay Strawder Jr. and wife Ashley Strawder, Kasey J. Strawder, Kleigh  J. Strawder, Addie E. Driggers, Mary M. Driggers, and two great grandchildren: Elisha J. Strawder and Haylee G. Darden; Sisters: Georgia Lee Strawder, Marie Strawder, Billie Sue Corley and Brother-in-laws: Ben Corley and Don Hendrix; Close friends: Don and Ann Gay, Jim Franco. The family of Joseph W. Strawder Jr. extends our sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice of Sylvester, GA for their kind and gentle treatment of Mr. Strawder and his surviving family in his final days.
