Julian Edward Williams, 83, of Chula passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Navicent Health in Macon. His funeral service was held on Friday, March 25, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Chula with Rev. Chad Hall officiating. Mr. Williams was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, March 25, 2016, prior to the service at the First Baptist Church of Chula.
Mason Roberts, Chase Roberts, Josh Warren, Nick Brannon, Mike Fletcher and Buck Aultman served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Hancock, Griffin “Tot” Graves, Hulen Jones, Jack Talley, Wayne Markham, Johnny Bradford and members of the Men’s 3 Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church of Chula.
Born November 27, 1932 in Montgomery County, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Luther Williams and Mamie Lou Humphrey Williams. He was also preceded in death by three sisters; Jessie Fennell, Myrtice McBride and Mary Peterson; and a brother, Garvin Williams. He retired from Pearman and Turner Peanut Company and served on the Tift County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary. He was a former member of the Chuster Club and a member of the First Baptist Church of Chula. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Larry Ann Pearman Williams of Chula, who he married June 15, 1952; two daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Phil Brannon, Sr. of Sparks and Anita and Mike Roberts, Jr. of Sylvester; two sisters, Nelma Cowan of Greenwood, South Carolina and Tossie McKenzie of Vidalia; ten grandchildren, Mason Roberts, Chase Roberts, Josh Warren (Nicole), Ashlee Bullard (Lee), Nick Brannon, Angela Brannon, Philip Brannon Jr., Christi Brannon, Candi Rountree (Bo) and Carrie Brannon (Brian); and 14 great-grandchildren.
