Laverne Hall Johnson, 79, of Sylvester, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Riverside Holiness Church in Moultrie with Rev. Mark Jordan officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester.
Casketbearers were Jerry Johnson, Boyd Brown, Donnie Taylor, Stanley Johnson, Ronnie Hall and Anthony Johnson Jr. Honorary casketbearer was Dock Allen.
Born October 28, 1934 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ashton Hall and Dessie Rose Ellen Howell Hall. She was a self-employed business owner and owned Johnson Tax and Bookkeeping Service and The Economy Store in Sylvester. She was a member of Riverside Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Eugene Talmadge Johnson Sr. of Sylvester; two sons, Terry Johnson and wife Dorothy of Jacksonville, GA and Tony Johnson Sr. and wife Marcia of Sylvester; one daughter Lori Johnson Ewing and husband Jimmy of Poulan; three grandchildren, Miranda Crosby, Anthony Johnson Jr. and Trace Glausier; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Crosby, MaKenna Crosby and Matthew Crosby; four sisters, Elizabeth Tillery, Voncelle Taylor, Vernelle Bates, all of Moultrie, and Othelle Thompson of Grand Ridge, FL; one brother, Denvelle Hall of Moultrie and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elyse Allen and Miriam Cardwell and brothers, Arnold Hall and Hubert Hall.
The family received friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
