Lovie Elaine Blackwell

Miss Lovie Elaine Blackwell, 65, of Sylvester died Friday November, 27, 2015 at her residence after a long bout from complications following cancer. Her remains were cremated.

A Memorial service was held at 5:00 PM on Monday November 30, 2015 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Grady Morey officiated.

Miss Blackwell was born on February 14, 1950 in Pensacola Fl. to Terris and Alice Beatrice Sanderson Blackwell. She was raised in Warwick, Ga. and graduated from Worth County High School in 1968. She graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1971 and later went on to receive her Master’s Degree. Miss Blackwell taught in the Worth County School System for 30 years, many of those years at Holley Elementary as a fourth grade teacher. Since she never married and had no children of her own, her students were her beloved children. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, collecting frogs and playing with her dogs Max and Wee. She enjoyed helping others in need. She was of the Baptist Faith and an active member of the Worth County Educator’s Association.

Survivors include her mother, Alice Beatrice Blackwell of Warwick; sister, Sandra Gay Blackwell of Sylvester; brother, Mark Blackwell (Misty) of Lutz, FL, a nephew, Robert Shanon Stuart (Crystal), a niece, Brianna Nerstrom, a great nephew “My Boy” Cameron Conner Bennett,  aunts, Bertie Mae Watson, Agnes Barfield, Viola Blackwell and Joy Gunter, numerous cousins and close friends. She also leaves her special “Adopted Daughter”, Betty Dorsey (Billy), and their three children, Ashley, Alexis Dorsey and Chandler Moon.

Ms. Blackwell was preceded in death by her father, Terris Blackwell in 2002.

The family has requested no flowers. You may send memorial contributions to Worth County Retired Educators, Service Dog Fund or the Scholarship fund c/o Mrs. Linda Medders 604 West Lee St. Sylvester, GA 31791.
