Margie Souter

Mrs. Margie Webb Souter, 74, of Sumner died Monday, February 19, 2018 at Regency Hospital in Macon.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel interment followed in the Shingler Cemetery. Rev. Freddy White and Rev. Terry Siniard officiated.

Mrs. Souter was born on September 12, 1943 in Tift County to the late Fredrick Taylor and Nellie Ruth Long Webb. She had lived in Worth County most of her life. Mrs. Souter was a prominent fixture at Ed’s Truck Stop where she was instrumental in helping with the operation of the business. She was a homemaker who enjoyed 56 years of marriage to the love of her life, Ed Souter. Mrs. Souter enjoyed gardening, playing softball in Poulan, fishing with her cane pole and spending time at their cabin in the mountains. She loved many things in life but the biggest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Edmond “Ed” Souter of Sumner; children, Richard Souter (Pam), Edmond “Eddie” Souter, Jr. (Melissa), all of Poulan and Donna Holmes (Steve) of Statesboro; grandchildren, Josh Beaty (Lindsey), Kaylee Beaty, Krystin Souter, Lakyn Souter, Edmond “Eddie” Souter III, Zachary Souter, Madison Holmes and Aiden Souter; great-grandchildren, Emma Beaty; sister, Alice Powell of Sylvester; brother, Leroy Webb of Poulan and a number of neices, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Souter was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Chambless, Frances Griffin, and Jerry Webb.

Active pallbearers included Tal Sizemore, Chuck Turner, Hubert Souter, Felton Souter, Derrell Souter and Ray Milling; honorary pallbearers, Keith Leggett, Terry and Shirley Land, Dallas Smith, Harold and Susan Brantley, Eddie and Linda Medders, Jackie and Arlene Ferguson, Freddie and Peggy Tompkins and Mack Sutton.
