Marie Hudson

G. Marie Apperson Hudson, surrounded by loved ones, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 after a lengthy illness.

The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 2, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Hudson was born March 8, 1935 in Turner County to the late Elzie V. and Julia Maude McDonald Apperson. She was a member of the Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Hudson spent her life working in finance and bookkeeping and had many traveling experiences as the spouse of an Air Force Airman which included living abroad in Turkey. She volunteered as a pink lady at the Worth County Hospital and loved talking to and spending time with the patients. Mrs. Hudson did not like her given name “Gladys” and decided to change to her middle name Marie although she will forever be known to many as Gladys!

Survivors include her children; Michael B. Compton (Amy Jo), Lisa Etheridge (Rocky), Dawn Mills (Steve), and Teresa Toole (Francis); siblings, W.N. Apperson (Donna), Runelle White, Martha Hoag (George) and Billy Apperson and sister-in love- Shirley Apperson; grandchildren, Gabe Compton (Aleana), Shilo Michaelsen (Brandon), Zachary Etheridge, Erin Mills, Alison Mills, Davis Mills, Ryan Toole, Corey Toole, and Kyle Toole; great grandchildren, Brodyn, Deegan and McKinley Compton, Javin, Gatlin, Titan, Riot and Cairo Michaelsen, and Haden Etheridge.

Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie V. Apperson and Julia Maude McDonald Apperson; brothers, Heywood Apperson and Mac Apperson and her sisters- Shirley Foster and Ann Blackford.
