Marion Gunter Hendricks

Mrs. Marion Gunter Hendricks, 87, of Sylvester died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Pine Shadows Too Nursing Home.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.  Dr. Tom Jacobs and Rev. Steve Williams will officiate.

Mrs. Hendricks was born on April 23, 1927 in Gordy to the late Simpson Marion and Nellie Young Gunter.  She had lived in Sylvester since 1965 moving here from Gordy.  Mrs. Hendricks retired in 1985 from Mitchell E.M.C. after 36 years of dedicated service.  She loved her family and enjoyed traveling with her friends.  Mrs. Hendricks always dressed very nice and enjoyed shopping for new clothes.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ruth Sunday School Class and the ABC’s.

Survivors include her daughters, Mona M. (Sonny) Brothers of Poulan and Donna H. Kirby of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Brooke (Dustin) Stinnett of Sylvester, Ryan Kirby of Los Angeles, CA and Kim Kirby of Easley, SC and her special caregivers at Pine Shadows Too.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hendricks was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie D. Hendricks on March 06, 2004 and her brother, D. Randall Gunter, Sr.

For those desiring, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2601 Dawson Road, Albany, Georgia 31707 or Affinis Hospice, 507 N. Jefferson Street, Albany, Georgia 31701.

The family received friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
