Martha Tanner Benson

Mrs. Martha (Benny) Tanner Benson, 84, of Sylvester died Monday April 21, 2014 at Sylvester Health Care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday April 24, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Grady Morey will officiate.
Mrs. Benson was born on January 31, 1930 in Dougherty County to the late William Thomas and Helen Wilder Tanner. She lived in Worth County since 1962, moving here from Tift County. Mrs. Benson retired from Coats and Clark after many years of service. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Mrs. Benson was a member of First Baptist Church of Acree.
Survivors include her, daughter, Frances B. Hancock (Al) of Sylvester; son, Gary Benson of Sylvester; sisters, Wilda T. Headrick of Acree and Peggy T. Calhoun of Albany; grandchildren, Kim Sullivan, Chad Benson, Hayden Sumner and Chesley McCorvey; great grandchildren, Devin Bryant, Savannah Benson, Corey T. Sumner, Jackson McCorvey and Samuel V. Benson.
Pallbearers included Ricky Headrick, Freddy Thompkins, Rodney Leverett, Jeff Roach, Jay Garmon, and Floyd Calhoun.
