Mrs. Melba Etheredge Hobby, 86, of Shingler died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Phoebe-Worth Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at Banks Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Mike Davis will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Dan Miller, Rodney Leverett, Earl Thomas, Jimmy Cochran, Bud Childers and Mike Carter.
Mrs. Hobby was born on October 27, 1927 in Anderson City to George Hill and Mittie Mae Cannon Etheredge. She was a lifelong resident of Worth County and a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hobby was a member of the Joe Cook and the Maude O’Sheal Sunday School Class. She was a member of the UMW and the Pinson Angels. Mrs. Hobby enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her sons, Maurice Hobby of Sylvester and George A. Hobby of Shingler; her granddaughter, Jennifer Hobby; great-granddaughter, Kendal Henderson, and brother, George W. Etheredge of Albany.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hobby was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Hobby on November 03, 2007.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Banks Funeral Home.
