Mike W. Elmore, Jr., 64, of Sylvester, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 21st at Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church in Sylvester with Rev. Jeff Barker officiating. Gravesides services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 21st in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Valdosta. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 Wednesday morning at the church.
The Adult’s Men Sunday School Class of Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 4, 1951 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Mike W. Elmore, Sr., and Dorothy June Clayton Elmore, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Robin Fletcher Elmore who died in 2014, one sister and one brother. Mike was the Maintenance Manager for ADM Paper Company. He was an active member of Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church and the go-to-person for any building projects the church might need. Mike was also known as a special neighbor and friend who was always willing to help in any way he could. He enjoyed wood working, fishing and country music.
He is survived by a daughter, Stacy Hacker and a brother, Jimmy Elmore, both of East Ridge, TN; two grandchildren, Summer Elmore and Brandon Kennedy; sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and Ed May of Tifton; one nephew, Bill May; two nieces, Jennifer May Plair and Melissa Ragan; two great nephews and four great nieces.
