Patricia Miner

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Miner, 60, of Sylvester died Monday October 28, 2013 at her residence.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday October 31, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Carter officiating. A second memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday November 1, 2103 at the Mountville United Methodist Church in Mountville, GA.
Mrs. Miner was born in Maryville, TN on September 24, 1953 to the late Harold Watson and Margaret Yoakum Mayer. She lived in Worth County for the past 10 years having lived most of her life in LaGrange. Pat loved drawing, painting, arts and crafts and etched glass. She was a graduate of West Georgia Technical College and was formerly employed with Vernon Woods Assisted Living as a chef.
Pat was one of the founding members of Habitat for Humanity in LaGrange. Mrs. Miner started the first support group for breast cancer in LaGrange and was a cancer survivor for 23 years. She was a Brownie leader and den mother. Mrs. Miner was the Sylvester-Worth Chamber Woman of the year and worked on the Georgia Peanut Festival and the Farmer’s Appreciation Bar-B-Que committees. She attended First Baptist Church of Sylvester and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Miner of Sylvester; children, Valeri Kirkwood (Kirk) of LaGrange, Jonathan Wood (Casey) of LaGrange, Mara Posey of Sylvester and S.J. Miner (Brittany) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Skyler, Maddie and Tanner Kirkwood, Kevin and Katarina Wood, Caleb and Jacob Posey and Vann and Serenity Miner; sisters, Leanna McDonald of Sylvester, Rhonda Lawton of Louisville, KY and Gwen Kendrick (Terry) of Tifton;  and brother, Robert Mayer (Nancy) of Sylvester.
For those desiring memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave., Suite 100, Albany, GA 31701.
The family received friends on Thursday from 1:30 until service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
