Mr. Rufus “Buddy” Dyes Jr., 71 of Bridgeboro, died on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Willson Hospice House.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Doerun Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Brown officiated.
Mr. Dyes was born on September 5, 1947 in Doerun, GA., to the late Rufus Walter and Novellie Allen Dyes. He had lived in Worth County all of his life and was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Dyes retired as a Diesel Mechanic from the Marine Core Logistic Base. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves and he never met a stranger. Mr. Dyes attended Bridgeboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Dyes of Bridgeboro; children, Karen Hancock (Jason) of Bridgeboro, Steve Dyes (Karen) of Doerun; sister, Ann Wood of Worth County; grandchildren, Stephen Dwayne Dyes, Waylon Cochran (Casey), Kasey Cochran, Coley Hancock and Railey Hancock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dyes was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Dyes on May 6, 2009; sister, Joyce Oliver and a grandchild, Forrest Cochran.
