Mrs. Shirley Apperson Foster, 70, of Albany died Thursday September 11, 2014 at her residence.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Barker officiated.
Mrs. Foster was born on November 12, 1943 in Sylvester to the late Elzie Vanburen and Julia Maude McDonald Apperson. She had lived most of her life in Albany and had also lived in Key West, FL. Mrs. Foster retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base after 29 years of service as the Post Exchange Manager. She enjoyed shopping, gardening and loved sun flowers. Mrs. Foster was also a member of the Moose Auxiliary in Albany.
Survivors include her sisters, Nell White of Sylvester, Marie Hudson of Albany, Ann Blackford of Bell Fountain, OH and Marti Hoag (George) of Sylvester; brothers, Heywood Apperson (Shirley) of Sylvester, W.N. Apperson (Donna) of Sylvester, Billy Apperson of Sylvester and a host of nieces and nephews, including Lisa Etheridge.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Apperson.
Pallbearers included Zachary Etheridge, Rocky Etheridge, Francis Toole, Ryan Toole, Corey Toole and Keith Daniel Apperson.
