Vernell Lewis Culpepper

Mrs. Vermell Lewis Culpepper, 77 of Sylvester died Saturday July 26, 2014 at Pruitt Health Care in Sylvester.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Poulan Cemetery.

Mrs. Culpepper was born on June 6, 1937 in Bladenboro, NC to the late George Anderson and Sally Othel Merritt Lewis. She had lived in Worth County since 1947. Mrs. Culpepper was a member of the Poulan Baptist Church and attended the Poulan Methodist Church. She was a member of the Poulan Homemakers Club. She had worked as a federal and state peanut inspector; a manager with TG&Y and Family Dollar Stores, and with Coats & Clark. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, gardening and taking care of her daylilies.

Survivors include her husband, Willie H. Culpepper of Sylvester; sons, Billy Culpepper (Melissa) of Poulan and Andy Culpepper (Tara) of Sumner; sisters, Wildoph Collins of Columbus and Mary Jo Hearne of Poulan; brother, C.A. Lewis of Poulan; grandchildren, Matt Culpepper, Brandyn Crackel, Ben Culpepper, Brett Culpepper, Emily Culpepper and Aindal Culpepper; great-grandchild, Sophia Crackel.

Active pallbearers included Dylan Culpepper, Matt Culpepper, Darien Culpepper, Brett Culpepper, John Merritt, Jimmy Hearne, and Ben Culpepper. Honorary pallbearers included James Thompson, Tommy Sumner, Tim Sumner, Steve Jolley, Jimmy Snipes, Billy Young, Mack Sutton, John Porter, Jerry Young, Lyndal Ford, Herb Benford, Ed Ramos, and Butch Jenkins.
