Mr. Wayne Richard Pope, 70, of Sumner died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. John Powell will officiate.
Mr. Pope was born on October 15, 1944 in Ocilla, GA to the late Royal Raleigh and Edna Ed Shivers Pope. He had lived in Worth County since he was 13 years old and was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and had received the Young Farmers Award. Mr. Pope was a supporter of the FFA, enjoyed fishing and quail hunting, and played the guitar.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Thomas Pope (Treasure), of Sumner; grandchildren, Ande and Raleigh Pope, Trey, Bryce and Mary Claire Payne; special friend, Marcia Bennett of Omega; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Pope of Sumner; sisters, Joan Vickers (Eugene) of Macon, Betty Faye Vickers of Warner Robins, and Joyce Powell (John) of Sylvester.
Mr. Pope was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Pope on January 19, 2011.
Serving as pallbearers were Trey Payne, Tim Vickers, Dennis Sledge, Shannon Sledge, Michael Causey and James Paulk.
