Mr. Wright Wilson Mims, 95 of Sylvester, died on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Pruitt Health Care Sylvester.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday July 7, 2019 at the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Story will officiate.
Mr. Mims was born on March 16, 1924 in Randolph, County., to the late Grover Cleveland and Bessie Smith Mims. He had lived in Worth County since 1953 and was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was present at the time the Japanese surrendered. Mr. Mims was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as an engineer, where he helped develop and construct Interstate 75 from Ashburn, GA., to the Florida line and the Albany By-Pass. He was a member of the American Legion post 335, member of Salem Baptist Church the Men’s Sunday School Class and also served as a Deacon. Mr. Mims was a former Chairman for the Worth County Board of Commissioners, and farmed for many years later in life, but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his sons, Henry Mims (Kathy) and Kim Mims (Marilynn) all of Sylvester; daughters, Beth Kemper (Bill) of Richmond Hill, GA, and Kay Currie of Sylvester, GA; grandchildren, James Kemper (Anne), Karen Moss (Bryant), Sara Mims, Raine Boyd and Wren Seago (Mike); a number of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; sisters, Dorothy Dumas and Marcelle Cutting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Livingston Mims on March 4, 2017; grandson, Drew Currie; siblings, Cecil, Robert, Edwin, Norma, Louise and Catherine.
