Wynell “Nell” James

Mrs. Wynell (Nell) Hancock James, 91 of Sylvester, died on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at Pruitt Health Care Sylvester.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 14, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, a private interment will follow. The Rev. Donnie Duncan will officiate.

Mrs. James was born on February 27, 1928 in Thomas County, GA., to the late John Lafayette and Birdie Dixon Hancock. She had lived in Worth County since 1949 and was retired from the University of Georgia Extension Service Office in Albany, GA. Mrs. James was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvester, Ruth Sunday School Class, Susan Anderson Circle and the Senior Adults ABC’s class.

Survivors include her children, Debra J. Ayers (Ralph) of Sylvester, David James (Bert) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Clint James, Eric James (Katie), J.B. Watkins, Tommy Giddens and Ashley Parrish (Justin); 12 great grandchildren;  a host of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her caregiver, Shirlene Gulley.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Oren C. (Pat) James on September 10, 2012.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30 AM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
