Idola Gunn Huff McCawley

Mrs. Idola Gunn Huff McCawley, 93, of Sylvester died Monday, May 21, 2018 at her residence. A memorial service was held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Brown officiating.
Mrs. McCawley was born on May 7, 1925 in Worth County to the late Walter Van and Amanda Powell Gunn.  She had lived in Sylvester for the past 20 years moving here from Saint Simons Island where she lived for many years.  Mrs. McCawley was a skilled Seamstress who worked at Coats and Coats in Albany and Suburban Manufacturing in Sylvester before retiring.  She enjoyed reading, sewing and working in her yard.  Mrs. McCawley had many joys in life but her greatest joy was her family whom she loved dearly.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary.  Mrs. McCawley was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Dollar of Memphis, TN; son, William “Bill” Huff, Sr. (Kathlynn) of Hensley, AR; sisters, Myrtle Williams of Moultrie, Lougenia Cross of Sylvester and Lavera Hobby of Brunswick; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members and her beloved canine companion, Mitzi.

The family extends their graditude to her caregivers, Michell Bobe, Shane Harrell, Stacey Smith, Dolly Garner and Billy Brown.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCawley was preceded in death by her son, Emory Lamar Huff, Jr.; grandchildren, Shane Huff, Emory Lamar Huff Smith, III and Kinn Huff Smith; brothers, Dorsey Gunn and Archie Gunn and sisters, Annie Mae Green and Estelle Walker.
