Henry Snipes

Mr. Henry Grady Snipes, 96, of Sylvester, died on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Pine Shadows Retirement Manor.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Banks Funeral Home Chapel interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Davis officiated. 

Mr. Snipes was born on April 19, 1922 in Worth County to the late Ernest Franklin and Carrie Mae Balkcom Snipes. He had lived in Worth County all of his life and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Mr. Snipes retired from Sutton Livestock Company after 32 years and was a member of the Shingler United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed traveling, gardening and tending to his cows. Mr. Snipes and his wife just celebrated 75 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Fowler Snipes of Sylvester; daughters, Lynn S. Fowler (Garvin) of Sylvester, Jean S. Farley (Jimmy) of Penny Farms, FL; son, Alan Snipes (Mary) of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Amber Stevens, Amy Chafin, Jody Farley, Josh Farley, Jeffrey Snipes, Tori Hand, Laura Davis, Ben Williams and 19 great grandchildren.

Mr. Snipes was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Franklin and Carrie Mae Balkcom Snipes and 7 siblings.               

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Shingler United Methodist Church, 213 Shingler Sumner Road, Sumner, GA 31789.

Pallbearers for the service included, Jeffrey Snipes, Ben Williams, Jody Farley, Josh Farley, Scott Chafin and Kip Stevens.
