Mr. Alton Jeffrey “Jeff” Jones, 59 of Sylvester, died on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Story and Rev. Jason Jones will officiate.
Mr. Jones was born on June 1, 1959 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Alton E. and Jeanette Kilcrease Jones where he has lived all his life. He was a 1982 graduate of the University of Georgia where he received a BSA in agriculture. Mr. Jones enjoyed racing, sharing his musical talents and socializing with family, friends and his pets. He was a UGA fan, a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho and Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet M. Jones of Sylvester; sons, Daniel Jeffrey Jones and his mother Carmen of Sylvester, Alex Philips (Lindsay) of Alphretta; daughter, Lucy Phillips of Boston, MA.; his mother Jeanette K. Jones-Fulford of Sylvester; brother, Scott Jones (Candi) of Sylvester; sister, Donna J. Johnson (Wayne) of St. Simons Island; mother-in-law, Carlise Moncrief of Americus; and two grandchildren, Rooks & Wyatt Philips who called him Poppy.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father, Alton E. Jones, his step-father, Grady Fulford and his father-in-law, Bill Moncrief.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
