Ann Bates

Mrs. Ann Bates, 77 of Sylvester, died on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Pruitt Health Care of Sylvester.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Sylvester. The Rev. Donnie Duncan officiated.

Mrs. Bates was born on October 26, 1942 in Irvin County, to the late Elster Lee and Ina Mae Leverett Cox. She had lived in Worth County most of her life and was retired from the State of Georgia Mental Health Department. Mrs. Bates enjoyed crocheting and baking but most importantly spending time with her friends and family. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church in Sylvester.

Survivors include her sisters, Ina Etheredge (Julius) of Leesburg; Peggy Cox Sparling of Baconton, Ga; a host of nieces and nephews; feline companions, Jackson and T.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Cox; sisters, Mary Cox and Linda Blalock; nephew, Scott Etheredge.
