Mr. Buford R. Lumpkin, 87, of Sylvester died Wednesday November 6, 2013 at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday November 9, 2013 at Northside Baptist Church with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Reverends Richard McNair, Jerry Cooper, Dexter Wilson and Brian Jones officiated.
Mr. Lumpkin was born on May 23, 1926 in Turner County to the late William Harrison and Bernice Hobby Lumpkin. He lived in Turner and Worth Counties all of his life and was owner/operator of Buford Lumpkin Heating and Cooling. Mr. Lumpkin enjoyed working on his farm and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He was a former member and deacon of Northside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his, wife, Willene Wiley Lumpkin of Sylvester; sons, Ralph Lumpkin (Judy) of Waleska, GA and Mike Lumpkin (Gina) of Camilla; daughter, Cindy Rogers of Sylvester; step- children, Frankie Wiley of Sycamore and Belinda Dill (Eddie) of Tifton; grandchildren, Deena Fotopoulos (George), Andy Lumpkin (Meri), Michael Lumpkin (Lilac), Jeremy Lumpkin (Amy), Anthony Rogers (Gail) and Eric Rogers (Jay); nine great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, Brannon Fountain and Charla Futrill; four step, great-grandchildren and sisters, Betty Ireland and Anna Rae Gibson, all of Ashburn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lumpkin was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Dean Lumpkin on November 11, 1990 and 10 siblings.
Pallbearers included Bill Gillman, Sonny Johnson, Toby Cooper, Kemp Willis and Grady Morey, and Jimmy Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers included Isas Jose, Eliseo Jose, Billy Smith and Joe Burnam.
