Dorothy Young Brooks

Mrs. Dorothy Young Brooks, 88, of Worth County died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her residence. The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home with interment following in the Paulk’s Chapel Cemetery.  Rev. Mike Carter and Rev. Donnie Wright officiated.

Mrs. Brooks was born on October 10, 1929 in Worth County to the late Emmitt and Letha Mae Whittington Young.  She had lived in Worth County all her life.  Mrs. Brooks worked as a nurse helping many other people before retiring.  She enjoyed playing piano and gardening.  Mrs. Brooks had many joys in her life but her greatest love was her family whom she loved dearly.  She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Danny Brooks (Betty) of Norman Park, Tommy Brooks (Peggy), Kenneth Brooks (Patricia), all of Sumner, Jerry Brooks (Denise) and Ned Brooks (Diane), all of Omega; daughters, Cherlyn Patterson (Jimmy) of Norman Park and Kathy Waters (Darrell) of Griffin; brothers, Harvey Young of Albany, Rex Young of Doerun and Jimmy Young of Doerun; sisters, Jeanette Braswell of Albany, Carolyn Evans of Albany, Ann Howard of  Sigsbee and Betty Busbin of Okeechobee, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Everette Brooks on February 1, 1996; brothers, Alvin Young and Bobby Young; and a grandson, Joseph T. Brooks. Pallbearers included Jason Brooks, Tim Brooks, Craig Patterson, Brooks Patterson, Keith Brooks and Chris Brooks.
