Mr. Hiram W. “Jack” Brooks, 84, of Sylvester died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Willson Hospice House.
The funeral service was held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August, 3, 2014 at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Davis and Dr. Harold Thomaston will officiate.
Mr. Brooks was born on August 9, 1929 in Colquitt County GA to Lonnie M. and Willie Lee Hancock Brooks. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and in the Army Reserves. He retired as a truck driver and throughout his career received numerous accommodations of safe driving awards. He attended Pinson United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, JoAnn Weeks Brooks, daughters; Tami Smith (Brint) of Douglasville, Lisa Young (Mike) of Fallston, MD, Kim Helms (Richard) of Sylvester, grandchildren; Trey and Amanda Smith of Atlanta, Rick Helms (Jana) of Albany, Clay and Jack Young of Fallston, MD, siblings; Jewell Barksdale of Funston, David Brooks (Jeanette) and Charles Brooks (Joan) of Tifton, Joyce Thomaston (Harold) of Thomasville, Cleston Brooks, Berry Brooks, and Terry Brooks (Cheryl) all of Sylvester.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Langley and Louise Bartley; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Helms.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service hour at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church.
