James Monroe

Mr. James Monroe Fletcher, 90, of Sylvester, died on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Satilla Hospice House in Ware County.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home interment followed in the Crosland Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Hadden officiated. 

Mr. Fletcher was born on November 2, 1928 in Moultrie, GA to the late Eulas Henry and Omie Philyaw Fletcher. He had lived in Sylvester most of his life. Mr. Fletcher was retired from the United States Army as Command Sergeant Major after 35 years of service. He later retired as a self employed construction contractor. Mr. Fletcher was a member with the American Legion the VFW and the Acree Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years. He enjoyed, farming, working with his cows, watching football and fishing; but his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Fletcher of Sylvester; children,Carla E. McDaniel of Gautier, MS, James Fletcher of Wesley Chapel, FL and Jan Robinson (Shane) of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, Matthew McDaniel (Diana),Marcy Warning  (Matthew), Addie Fletcher and Olivia Kimble; great grandchildren, Emma McDaniel, Rylie and Shane Warning;sisters, Ruby Forester and Betty Howard (Donnie); And a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his siblings,Marion Fletcher, Charles Fletcher, Pauline Maxwell, Nadine Butler, Vernon Fletcher and Henry Fletcher.
