Mrs. Jane Culpepper Thompson, 86, of Poulan died Friday April 11, 2014 at the Rehabilitation Center of the South in Tifton.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Monday April 14, 2014 in the Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Lee McMath officiated.
Active pallbearers included Ben Culpepper, Matt Culpepper, Brett Culpepper, Dylan Culpepper, Darien Culpepper, Bo Culpepper, Nicholas Culpepper, Pat Watkins, and Shane Long.
Honorary pallbearers included Billy Young, Jerry Young, Chris Young, Jeffrey Young, Clay Young, Herbert Benford, and Virgil Johnson.
Mrs. Thompson was born on October 20, 1927 in Poulan to the late John Henry and Mary Annie Jolly Culpepper. She lived in Worth County since 1995, moving here from Ashburn. Mrs. Thompson was a L.P.N. who started her nursing career in 1945. She worked for Dr. Reynolds in Ashburn and was a caregiver in Darien, Ga. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed serving others. She was a member of Ashburn Dayspring Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her brothers, John S. Culpepper (Evelyn), Charles E. Culpepper (Shirley) both of Sylvester, and Willie H. Culpepper (Vermell) of Poulan; sisters-in-law, Majorie Culpepper of Cordele, Mary Lizzie Culpepper of Sylvester, Annie Ruth Culpepper of Poulan, Lutrelle English of Macon, and Sue Brooks of Cornelia; brother-in-law, James Thompson of Chula; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husbands, Bryant A. Smith on August 6, 1980 and Keith C. Thompson on November 24, 2000.
