Louis Benson, Jr.

Mr. Louis Grady Benson Jr., 81, of Eufaula, formerly of Worth County, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Pine Shadows Retirement Home.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Duncan officiated.

Mr. Benson was born on July 2, 1937 in Sumner, GA., to the late Louis Grady Sr., and Tulley Lee Sutton Benson. He had lived in Eufaula for the past 43 years and had a farm in Worth County he loved.  Mr. Benson graduated from the Sumner High School and later earned a degree in Forestry from the University of Georgia. He was previously employed with Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company, and later retired from Louisiana Pacific as an consultant. Mr. Benson enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, football, boating, being on the water, and playing dominos with friends. He was a member of the Quarterback Club and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula.

Survivors include his children, Maylon Benson of Sylvester, Rhonda Andrews of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Caroline Drummond, Catherine Lake (Hunter), Kayla Benson, Matthew Benson, Chris Benson and a great granddaughter, Claire Adams.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Benson was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Booth Benson on November 25, 2018 and a son, Kenneth B. (Ken) Benson on June 23, 1989.
