Merle Shiver

Mrs. Merle B. Shiver, 91, of Sylvester died on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church  interment to followed in the Bethel Church Cemetery.  Rev. Dan Story and Rev. Grady Morey officiated.
Mrs. Shiver was born on February 10, 1927 in Gadsden, FL to the late Carl Melton & Annie C. Reynolds Bowen. She had lived in Worth County most of her life.  Mrs. Shiver retired from Coats and Clark after 37 years of service as an Accounts Payable Clerk.  She enjoyed watching Family Feud, reading her daily newspaper and watching the Atlanta Braves.  Mrs. Shiver was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Andy Shiver of Sylvester; numerous nieces and nephews, and her cats, Spot and Tabby.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shiver was preceded in death by her husband, James Loren Shiver on April 17, 2006 and her step-mother, Hilda Bowen.
Pallbearers included Dylan Walters, Billy Oliver, Devan Murphy, David Howell, Royce Jordan and Colby Bearden. Please sign our online guest registry at www.banksfh.com. Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester was in charge of arrangements.
