Miss Sue Tomberlin, 77, of Sumner died Wednesday August 21, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Damascus United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Cherry officiating.
Miss Tomberlin was born on January 15, 1936 in Tift County to the late John William “Mark” and Ethel Willis Tomberlin. She lived in Worth County since 1945 and graduated from Sumner High School.
Miss Tomberlin retired after 42 years from The Sylvester Local News, where she worked as the office manager. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, working in her garden, and gathering pecans. Miss Tomberlin was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Sibbie Anderson of Yulee, FL; brothers, Silas “Pete” Tomberlin of Scooterville and Marcus “Bill” Tomberlin of Berlin, GA; and a host of special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great, great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Miss Tomberlin was preceded in death by her siblings, W.K. Tomberlin, Jeanette Tomberlin, Pauline Snellgrove, Bessie Mae Dekle and Dorothy Nobles.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.
