Thomas Whittington

Mr. Thomas Vinson Whittington, 85 of Hartsfield, GA., died on Monday, May 20, 2019 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday May 24, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Ed Komorowski officiated. 

Mr. Whittington was born on November 13, 1933 in Oglethorpe County, GA., to the late Thomas Benson and Nanyle Rigsby Whittington. He had lived in Southwest Georgia all of his life and farmed for many years in Worth County. After moving to Colquitt County Mr. Whittington worked for Moultrie Electric Motor Service and retired from Beatles Lumber Company as an Electrician. He was a antique collector at Bridge Creek Antiques, enjoyed working on cars, restoring old furniture and flying. Mr. Whittington was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church for many years and loved spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his children, Mike Whittington (Melissa) of Warwick, Gloria Causey (Carlton) of Doerun, Beth Godfrey (Steve) of Doerun; step-children, Eve Dunn (James) of Moultrie, Judy Beverly (Monty) of Warner Robins and Connie Bivins (Jack) of Moultrie; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous friends and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his wife, Rozelle Collins Whittington; sisters, Elizabeth Connell and Evelyn Dorminey.
