Mr. Walter Irvin Hatcher, Sr., 87, of Poulan, died on Monday, June 24, 2019 at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 10:00 AM on Thursday June 27, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Purnell and Rev. Bill Piland officiated.
Mr. Hatcher was born on February 7, 1932 in Shelby, N.C. to the late J.P. Hatcher and Emily Rosela Brooks Black. He had lived in Worth Co. most of his life and was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hatcher owned and operated Worth Hardware for 43 years and was a master barber. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Mr. Hatcher was a member of the Worth Lodge #194, Hansen Shriner’s Club, and he was a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Fouche Hatcher of Poulan; son, Eric Hatcher of Poulan; grandchildren, Kimberly Tribulak (Zack), Jack and J.D. Hatcher; great granddaughter, Olivia Grace Tribulak; half-sister, Wynelle Cannon.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by son, Irvin Hatcher, Jr. on April 12, 2000; brother, Leonard Hatcher.
