Jewel Wilson Lyon, 83, of Sumner died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder McKinley Wright officiated and burial followed in Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lyon was born on February 6, 1930 in Thomas County and was the daughter of James Herman Wilson and Mary Eason Gandy Wilson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lyon, who died in 1986; five brothers and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church in Worth County.
Mrs. Lyon is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Athie Lyon of Sumner, Fred and Dianne Lyon of Alapaha and James and Robin Lyon of Connecticut; one daughter, Mary Lyon of Shingler; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Hazel Wilson Lacey of North Carolina, Sybil Wilson Nobles of Okeechobee, FL, Polly Wilson Woodham of Lake Worth, FL and Jan Wilson Lewis and her husband, Dan of Thomasville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
