Ralph Moore

Ralph Monroe Moore, 87, of Lee County, GA, died May 26, 2019 at Lillian G. Carter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Plains, GA.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. Calvin King will officiate.  A private family interment will follow in Clements Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Turner County, GA.

Mr. Moore was born on December 8, 1931 to Homer and Mattie Moore in Turner County, GA.  He grew up in Worth County, GA and graduated from Sumner High School.  Mr. Moore moved to Albany, GA in 1950, married in 1957 and moved to Lee County, GA in 1962.  During his career, he was employed with Great Southern Trucking, Ryder Truck Lines and retired after 30 years with Carolina Freight.

Mr. Moore was a long time member of Thundering Springs Baptist Church.  He was a charter member of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Lee County High School Football Chain Gang for over 30 years.  He was a long time member of the Lee County Board of Education. Mr. Moore enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, Trojan Athletics, UGA and the Braves.  He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory Wayne Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn S. Moore of Lee County, GA, his sons, Ralph (Cynthia) Moore, Jr. of Bogart, GA, Tim (Polly) Moore of Blakely, GA and Chip (Stephanie) Moore of Lee County, GA, two sisters, Wylene Strenth of Worth County, GA and Elnita Gay of Panama City, FL, brother, Richard (Glenda) of Cairo, GA, five grandchildren, Anna Rose Moore, Christa Lynn Moore, Chad Moore, Mellanie Moore and Sydney Taff and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Taff.

The family would like to thank Pam Hall and the staff of caregivers at Willson Hospice House and the staff of Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
