Worthen Clytte Youngblood, 91, of the Red Rock Community in Worth County, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on May 18, 2018 while surrounded by his family at his home. The Celebration of Life service was held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 20, at the Salem Baptist Church in Worth County. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Salem Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jackie Cabaniss and Rev. Tom Howard officiated.
Mr. Youngblood was born on Feb. 12, 1927 in the Evergreen Community in Worth County, GA to the late John Bunyan and Lois Hinman Youngblood. A 1944 graduate of Bridgeboro School, he enlisted into the US Navy in 1945, serving honorably until his discharge from service in 1948. He enjoyed sharing his adventures while in the Navy, especially witnessing the Peace Treaty Signing on Sept. 2, 1945. On March 5, 1949, he married the LOVE of his life, Gloria Aultman, and spent the next 69 years as her loving and faithful husband.
Being a proud Southern Baptist Christian, he served Salem Baptist Church faithfully as Chairman of the Deacons, Music Minister and member of the Building and Cemetery Fund. He was Past President and Director of the Worth County Farm Bureau for many years. Known as the “EGGMAN”, he owned and operated the South Georgia Egg Company in Sycamore, GA and managed the June Dairy Egg Plant in Cairo, GA. Farming was also an occupation, but more of a hobby, that he loved while growing enough vegetables to feed the Red Rock Community. In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball, fishing, hunting, cheering on the Braves, watching old westerns, and passing along his passions to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Gloria; children, Jil Powell (Gene) and Hank Youngblood (Marsha); sister, Dean Ivey; grandchildren, Staci J. Powell, Jo Beth Maxwell (Bill), Molly Barnard (Shawn), Jacob Barnes (Courtney), Matthew Barnes, Abby Hembree (Leland), and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Reaves; Montez Johnson; Marguerite McClain; Patricia Holt and great-granddaughters Sealy Jewel and Harper Jane Hembree. Pallbearers included Jacob Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Luke Powell, Bill Maxwell, Shawn Barnard and Leland Hembree.
